If you decide to stay light, you can shed some of your starting equipment - after all, armor matters much less than good dodging. Medium armor strikes a balance between the two. This process, to my knowledge, goes along with switching the 'weapon art' ( I think they're called 'skill' in this game ) to one of the weapon arts present on an ash item you've found. That said, the questions arise when you are able to choose an affinity for your weapon. The Uchigatana is as OP as it was in DS3, but this time you do not even have to bonk an NPC over some edge to get it early on. ![]()
